Dave Elliott: Bio

Dave Elliott

A native Southern Californian, Dave Elliott studied musical performance at California State University, Fullerton and composition at UCLA. Dave also studied trumpet performance privately with renowned teachers John Clyman, Jimmy Stamp and Claude Gordon. Dave has performed with many noted conductors over the past 30 years, including William Hall, Howard Swan, David Thorsen and Daniel Lewis. Dave has toured the continental U.S. and Canada as a trumpet player and arranger for professional jazz, rock, and latin bands, as well as a member of Alvino Rey's Orchestra. Dave has played and arranged for television, radio, and theater appearances by various groups, including performances at the Shrine Auditorium and the Hollywood Bowl. He has arranged for and conducted church choirs for more than 30 years, and worked as musical director for several community theater productions. Dave has conducted annual presentations of Handel’s Messiah since 2002, and co-conducted a multi-denominational presentation of Vivaldi’s “Gloria” in 2003. Dave has written hundreds of compositions and arrangements for church choir, big band, children's musical theater, classical ensembles, original sacred presentations, and jazz vocal ensembles. He is the leader of the davElliott5, a jazz vocal ensemble well known for their popular Christmas shows, and his arrangements and playing are featured on the two davElliott5 CDs “Christmastime is Here” and “Merry Christmas, St. Nick”. Dave’s latest CD is a collection of sacred music for chorus, orchestra and soloists entitled “Hymns and Sacred Songs”.
